AOC Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux
Sabrina and Jacques Chardat have had the chance to purchase after Château Labrousse, the vineyard of a neighbour’s property : Château Lacaussade Saint-Martin with red vines (Malbec, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) and white vines (Sémillon and Sauvignon white and grey).
Sabrina and Jacques Chardat has found a wonderful terroir : a limestone plateau perfectly adapted for grape growing. The vineyard doesn’t pain of too much humidity or too much dryness, a very great terroir !
20% Cabernet Sauvignon
WINEMAKING & VINIFICATION
The property has been run with organic methods (certified by EcoCert) for several years, and is certified ISO 14001 and HEV 3rd level (High Environmental Value, the highest level of French environmental certification for farms). For a few years, Sabrina and Jacques Chardat has developed with passion Agroecology for the biodiversity of fauna and flora. They have already planted more than 1 km of hedgerows (maple, hornbeam, willow, hawthorn, dogwood, hazelwood …).
The vinification is made with traditional methods, in thermoregulated stainless tanks and the ageing is run in concrete vats and oak barrels. After one year and the final blend, the wine is bottled.
The wine is very expressive, generous, full and fleshy but always slightly tense, a vivacity and a freshness always very appreciable : it is the soil’s effect, the limestone !
