Château
Les Tours de Peyrat
Les Demoiselles
AOC Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux
Christelle Sauboua has taken care alone of the 16 hectares of Château Les Tours de Peyrat since 1990. The property previously managed by her parents, is located in the village of St-Paul-de-Blaye, in the heart of Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux AOC, beautiful clay and limestone slopes south exposed. Her wines are convivial, rich and fleshy. The property has been organic since 2013.
This special reserve refers to a wildflower, the garlic of vines that flowers in the vineyard since the organic conversion. It is locally called «La Demoiselle», the French word for a «damsel».
TERROIR
Appellation
In front of Medoc’s Grand Cru, just across the Gironde estuary, the Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux AOC is the home of some of the best and oldest Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec of the entire region, with a similar terroir as Saint-Emilion and Pomerol, the wonderful clay and limestone soil. But the wines of Blaye are accessible at a lower price, the best quality/price ratio in the Bordeaux area.
Grape varieties
80% Merlot
15% Cabernet Sauvignon
5% Malbec
WINEMAKING & VINIFICATION
The property is organic and also certified HEV 3rd level (High Environmental Value, the highest level of French environmental certification for farms). The natural grass is kept between the rows and the ground under the vine-plants is worked mechanically to galvanize the microbial life and push the roots to go deeper. The aim is to not suffer from the constraints of the vintage and develop the expression of the terroir.
The harvest is vinified in stainless tanks at low temperatures to preserve all aromas of fruits and is aged in barrels for 12 months before the final blend to get the perfect balance between fruit and wood.
TASTING NOTES
